The Burkinabe justice ministry has granted a provisional release to journalist – Adama Uedraogo, who was arrested for his alleged involvement in the September 2015 short- lived coup due to health reasons.
Ouedgraogo, a journalist from a popular private daily newspaper and Caroline Yoda, a journalists at a private TV station, were detained in a military prison. They were charged with five counts including complicity to breach state security, complicity to murder and aggravated assault and battery.
On January 14, a number of media organizations raised concerns about their squalid prison conditions, saying Ouedraogo had had repeated and frequent asthma attacks.
On 16 September 2015, soldiers from the Security Regiment(RSP), formed under former President Blaise Campaore staged a coup, Briefly overthrowing the then transitional government.
Fifteen people were killed and over 200 injured in anti-coup demonstrations.
